76th foundation day of AJK: India fast emerging as terrorist state on global scene, says AJK president
MUZAFFARABAD: President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry has said that owing to Modi’s extremist policies, India was fast emerging as a terrorist state on the global scene.
Addressing the ceremony organized on the 76th Foundation Day of Azad Jammu and Kashmir here Tuesday, the president, while referring to the BJP’s divisive policies, said that Modi would prove to be Gorbachev for India. “The day is not far when India will disintegrate”, he said.
Lauding Kashmiris’ decades-long struggle against India’s belligerent occupation, Barrister Chaudhry said that Kashmiris have never accepted Indian rule and its dominance over the territory.
Paying tribute to the Kashmiri martyrs, the president said, “Our elders struggled hard to liberate the territory from the clutches of Dogra Raj under the leadership of Ghazi Millat Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan. The establishment of the state of Azad Kashmir was not a mere coincidence but our forefathers waged a long struggle against the Maharaja and, ultimately, a revolutionary government under the leadership of Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan was established on 24 October 1947.”
“There has been a long political and military struggle which was written in blood”, he said, adding that it involved the blood of martyrs, sacrifices of innocent women and a journey of migration.”History bears witness to the fact that the people of the state of Jammu and Kashmir have always struggled against oppression and tyranny. The sacrifices of Sabz Ali Khan, and Milli Khan watered the freedom movement with their blood. They were skinned alive and their heads were beheaded but they refused to bow before the oppressor. Kashmiri people fought a historic struggle. Today, we pay our respects to our martyrs, those Mujahids and Ghazis who lit the candle of freedom by sacrificing their lives.”
Highlighting the main objectives of the establishment of the revolutionary government in AJK, he said that liberating Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir was the main purpose of the base camp government. “We assure our brethren in Occupied Kashmir that the government and people of Azad Kashmir are by their side in their struggle”, the president said, adding that the government would utilize all its resources to highlight the issue of Kashmir at the global level.
Denouncing India’s state repression against the Kashmiris, he said, “More than 96,000 Kashmiris have been martyred, 8,000 mass graves have been discovered, 10,000 people have forcibly disappeared whereas, 22,000 women have been widowed while tens of thousands of children have been orphaned during the past three decades”.T
The president strongly condemned Israel’s bombing of innocent Palestinians in Gaza. “The international community should stop Israel from bombing the Palestinians”, he said.
The function was attended by Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Anwar Haq, Speaker Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar, and others.
Earlier, Barrister Sultan was presented guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of police.
