Dr Faisal Chaudhary to assume charge as HC in London today
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom Dr. Muhammad Faisal Chaudhary has relinquished his charge in Berlin and he is assuming the charge as the High Commissioner in London today (Wednesday).
Well-placed diplomatic sources told The News here Tuesday that Chaudhary was taking up diplomatic engagements this week and was likely to offer his credentials to the King next month.
The outgoing High Commissioner in London, Moazzam Ahmad Khan, who has attained superannuation, has left the British capital and is returning to Islamabad. Interestingly, the change in the high commissions in Islamabad and London is taking place simultaneously. British High Commissioner- designate to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, also arrived in Islamabad early this week. She is the first female envoy of her country to Pakistan.
Dr. Faisal will be the second High Commissioner of Pakistan who will present his credentials to King Charles, after late H I Rahimtoola, who presented the documents to then King George VI in 1952. Twenty envoys from Pakistan in between presented their credentials to the Queen, who passed away last year.
Meanwhile, Syeda Saqlain, who was the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Kenya, has also made it to Berlin as ambassador to Germany. She will take up her assignment later this week, the sources said.
