Battagram admin moves against illegal tree cutting
BATTAGRAM: The officials of the district administration on Tuesday raided the hilly Battangi area near here and directed stern action against those involved in illegal cutting of forests.
Led by Deputy Commissioner Zariful Maani, the officials confiscated the timbers. “The vehicles and machinery used for the illegal cutting of trees and its transportation were also seized,” said an official. First Investigation Report (FIR) was lodged against those involved in the tree cutting and their immediate arrest was directed.
The deputy commissioner also called the district forest officer and other officials of the forest department to the spot and directed them to ensure strict implementation of the ban on tree cutting in the district. The district administration has already imposed ban on all kinds of tree cutting in the district.
