Six students injured in clash outside NED
Karachi
Six students were injured in a clash between two organisations at a book fair outside the NED University on Tuesday.
Rangers’ officials intervened to control the situation. However, no FIR had been reported till the filing of this story.
The clash started when some students uprooted a number of bookstalls and created problems for the organisers, who belonged to their group.
One of the students’ organisations had arranged the book fair outside the NED and invited the provincial education minister as chief guest. The university administration had not given any formal permission for holding the event.
Both sides later accused each other of attacking their activists.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital where hot words were exchanged, which increased the tension.
Liaquat Baloch of the Jamaat-e-Islami or the Nazim of the Islami Jamiat-e-Talba, one of the groups involved in the clash, will hold a conference at the place of the incident on Wednesday morning.
