Man shot dead in Malir

Karachi

A man was gunned down near Malir River by unidentified men riding a motorcycle, within the remit of Shah Latif police station.

The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Ghulam Khaskheli and was travelling on his motorcycle when he was shot dead.

The body was moved to the Jinnah hospital where the medico-legal officer confirmed his death with two bullet wounds to the chest.  The police suspect that he was killed due to some personal enmity.

Three killed in accidents

Three people including a six-year-old boy were killed in different incidents on Tuesday. Six-year-old Umair, son of Ibrahim, was run over by a vehicle in Malir while he was crossing the road.

In another incident, an unidentified young man was also run over by a speeding vehicle near Hospital Chowrangi within the remit of Quaidabad police station while riding a motorcycle.

A woman identified as 35-year-old Nooreen Fatima was electrocuted by the washing machine at her residence situated in Bilal Colony, Korangi, within the remit of Zaman Town police station.

Robber shot dead

An alleged bandit was gunned down and another was injured in a brief encounter with the PIB Colony police on Tuesday.

Two armed men on two motorcycles were stopping commuters near Essa Nagri and robbing them at gun point.

A police mobile that was patrolling the area reached the spot and observed the robbers who opened fire at the law enforcers.

The policemen returned fire due to which one of the suspects died on the spot while the other was injured and arrested.

The injured revealed his name and age to be Kareem Abbasi, 26, and also identified the deceased to be Sikander, 25. The police took the body and injured to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The police also claimed to have recovered stolen mobile phones, a motorcycle and two TT pistols from the suspects’ possession.
