Target killers among 13 held by law enforcers

Four suspects were arrested by the District East police in a raid conducted in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on Tuesday night, while the Pakistan Rangers, Sindh apprehended nine suspects in operations across the city.

According to SSP Jawed Jiskani, the four suspects – the gang’s leader Razik alias Amir Shah Pathan, Amanullah alias Saleh Pathan, Nazar Mohammad and Abdul Hadi Pathan – were caught after a raid was conducted near the Government Primary School in Block-11 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

He said the gang had confessed to more than 20 house robberies and over 10 sabotage activities in the city over the past year.

They were caught with four hand grenades, three TT pistols, four cell phones, Rs0.8 million in cash, and three 30 tola gold biscuits said to be worth Rs1.5 million.

Most of the recovered items were said to have been robbed by the gang from a Syed Muhammad Hanif’s house in Block-F, Gulshan-e-Jamal just a few days back.

The SSP said further investigations were underway as the group, which claims to have been active for the past two to three years, had also admitted to have supplied weapons to criminal elements in the metropolis.

Nine suspects held 

The Pakistan Rangers, Sindh arrested nine suspects, including alleged target killers and extortionists, in raids conducted across the city on Tuesday.

  A spokesman for the paramilitary force said raids were carried out in Quaidabad, Ishaq Jokhio Goth, Soldier Bazaar, Ramswami, Kharadar, Korangi, SITE and DHA.

In an intelligence-based operation in Korangi, an alleged target killer, Arshad alias Asad Chotu, was arrested. During investigation, the accused evidently confessed to his affiliation with a notorious militant wing’s target killing team and admitted to having carried out several hits. 

He was later produced before an anti-terrorism court that gave him in the Rangers’ custody for 90 days. 

In a separate raid in DHA, the Rangers arrested a suspect identified as Naeem Khan, who confessed to having provided weapons from a security company to different people. He too was given in Rangers’ custody for 90 days by an ATC.   

In an intelligence-driven surgical action in SITE’s Metroville area, a hidden weapons cache was recovered.

The recovered weapons included seven SMGs, a Repeater, an MP-5 gun styled as a 30 bore gun, two pistols and large quantity of ammo of different calibre.

 Moreover, three criminals were arrested with weapons in the raids conducted in the Ramswami and Kharadar areas.
