 Malik sees more terror attacks
Friday, October 16, 2009
LAHORE: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that “brave security forces” were alert to secure the country and they would handle the terrorists with iron hands.

Talking to reporters during his visit to the Headquarters of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday evening, the minister said the terrorists were working to destabilise Pakistan but the law-enforcing agencies would frustrate their designs.

He appreciated the performance of the Pakistan Rangers, the Elite Force and the Punjab Police for fighting the terrorists bravely. Rehman Malik said that the terrorists were in serious trouble after the Swat operation and the government was going to start an operation in Waziristan soon.

He added that the government would not resort to blame game against any country until sound proof was available. However, he said the involvement of foreign hand in the Lahore attacks could not be ruled out.

He said that there might be some more terrorists attacks in the country as some top aides of the Taliban Shura, who were arrested recently, had disclosed that they had sent terrorists before Eidul Fitr to carry out the attacks in various parts of the country.

To another question, he said that there was no Blackwater security agency working anywhere in Pakistan and intelligence agencies were fully alert in this regard. “The banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Jaish-e- Muhammad (JM), the al Qaeda and the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi are operating jointly in Pakistan but security forces are alert,” the minister said. The interior minister announced a plot, Rs 3 million each and employment for the heirs of the martyred security officials.
