Katy Perry’s mother ‘fooled’ by 2024 Met Gala AI picture

Katy Perry didn’t attend the 2024 Met Gala because of “work”, but the singer’s mom and fans were made to think otherwise.

With fake AI-generated pictures of Perry present at the event circulating X, formerly Twitter, the songstress was made to look like she attended the red carpet.

Perry also shared two fake images of her on Instagram with the caption "couldn't make it to the MET, had to work".

One AI-generated picture of the singer in a floral gown with a moss trim has over 13 million views on X.

The image was first shared at the beginning of the red carpet event at the Museum of Modern Art in New York with the caption, "Katy Perry. That's it."

Fans rushed to the artist’s Instagram post’s comment section to share how they were fooled to believe that she was present at the star-studded event.

"I really reposted this believing it was true," one fan said, while another wrote "Wait, it's AI-generated?! I got fooled."

But it was not only the Fireworks singer’s fans who were fooled, but also her mother, as the singer shared a screenshot of a conversation with her mum over the prank.

"lol mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!" Perry replied to her mother’s message, which said, “Ha Feather! Didn’t know you went to the Met, What a gorgeous gown, you look like the rose parade, you are your own float lol”.
