Jason Momoa shares new plans as he rethinks acting career
Jason Momoa opens up about stepping away from Hollywood for a while
Jason Momoa has revealed that he is thinking about stepping away from acting for a while as he shifts his focus on personal interests and more creative projects.
The 46-year-old actor reportedly has a busy film schedule ahead, with roles in Supergirl, Street Fighter, and Dune: Part Three, but he recently admitted that he wants to slow down and spend more time learning music.
Momoa spent much of the past year travelling for Season 2 of his HBO Max docuseries On the Roam, which premiered on May 14.
Speaking to CBR, Momoa explained that the project, which follows the actor "chasing art, adventure, and friendship through the lens of craftsmanship” across the United States, gave him a chance to step outside the usual Hollywood routine and reconnect with himself in a different way.
“I’d like to maybe stop f****** acting a little bit and actually go to school and learn how to play music a little bit more so I could be better, but f*** it, I’m still a work in progress, you know what I mean?”
The actor also reflected on the people he has met while filming the series. He explained that many of them continue to inspire him long after production ends.
“We get to meet all these beautiful people. And even from like the first season, it’s just, all those people are always in my mind. Generally, I find them on Instagram, and then, you know, you don’t get to see everybody all the time, but you get to see what they’re creating and still making.”
Despite his comments about taking a break, Momoa is set to appear as the DC Comics character Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl film, which is due to arrive in cinemas on June 26, 2026.
