Paul Rudd recalls being nervous alongside Nick Jonas in 'Power Ballad'
Paul Rudd talks about his experience singing alongside Nick Jonas
Despite years of singing in comedies, Paul Rudd admitted he felt 'nervous' to sing alongside Nick Jonas in their new movie Power Ballad.
Speaking with People Magazine in a joint interview, the MCU star shared his experience of singing alongside Jonas in the movie. "Yeah, I was nervous."
"I'd sung in movies before, but it was always silly — you get a lot of leeway. This was real, actual singing. I was doing it with you and [writer-director-producer] John Carney, who's a musician himself," Rudd said.
Adding, "This job is always nerve-wracking. Acting, singing — you're putting yourself out there, so you close your eyes and jump in the deep end."
Reflecting on the 2009 comedy Role Models, when Rudd improvised a song on screen, he admitted that Power Ballad is different.
The actor, who plays the role of Rick a "past-his-prime wedding singer" in the movie, said, "It's all serious singing from start to finish. So that's what I did. But yeah, it was a little bit of a nervousness, for sure."
"Well, you blew everybody away on set," Jonas responded.
Power Ballad starring Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd was released on May 29 in selected theaters before nationwide release in the US on June 5.
