Quarterly review of goals & targets: PM seeks ministries, divisions’ performance report
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has sought performance reports of the ministries and departments within two weeks, as he has asked for their quarterly review in the backdrop of goals and targets okayed in a meeting, chaired by him in November last year.
A format has already been approved to be strictly adhered to in preparation of the related reports and their presentation during the review meetings to be held shortly.
The Prime Minister Office said that in order to evaluate the performance of the ministries and divisions in the context of goals and targets approved in the November 2018 meeting, the prime minister has been pleased to direct that quarterly performance review in a structured manner be conducted. “Goal setting and performance review is the mainstay of a well-functioning government, as these factors enable it to refocus on the goals and to make adjustments to achieve the envisioned objectives. In this regard, the prime minister had chaired a cabinet meeting, wherein all federal secretaries had presented short and long term plans of their respective ministries and divisions,” it said.
Accordingly, a draft format of the presentations had been attached with the communication sent to all the concerned and the format is to be followed by the respective secretaries while making presentation to the federal cabinet while time and date or the meeting would be communicated in due course.
Seven aspects are to be strictly observed during making presentation to the federal cabinet and these are: presentation shall be made for maximum 30 minutes followed by 15 minutes of question-answer session; emphasis should remain on the efforts made to achieve the goals and targets so assigned and the issues that require resolution, inter-ministerial coordination, if required, must be made prior to presentation to avoid any duplication, long term plans should also have implementation strategy.
Moreover, no deviations whatsoever from the approved format would be allowed in any case and the divisions are expected to fully adhere to the time slots while ministries and divisions shall also include information about the subordinate organisations and attached departments and lastly, ministries and divisions shall without fail provide information on the format within two weeks positively.
