MIRANSHAH: Four missiles fired by the US drones on a car on Sunday killed four people in Khushali village on Mir Ali-Khaisur Road in North Waziristan Agency.

However, AFP reported that the US drones fired six missiles into a militant compound and at least seven militants were killed. The news agency, quoting a security official, said the toll might rise as militants search for colleagues buried under the rubble of the compound, adding missiles also hit and destroyed two militant vehicles.

Some other reports said the car was hit when it was being parked in a house, which was also damaged and four people were injured. Villagers said the car caught fire when missiles hit it and four people traveling in it were burnt and their bodies could not be recognised. They were said to be local residents and were laid to rest in the village graveyard.

Tribal sources said five US spy planes were seen flying over the area during the attack. It is the second attack by the US drones in North Waziristan during Ramazan. Official sources said 24 drone strikes have been reported in North Waziristan in 2012 so far.
