Bright, sunny days ahead

Islamabad: The sun shone brightly in clear skies on Saturday after a wet and cloudy spell during the previous day and night.

The 20 millimeters intermittent rainfall lowered the temperatures in the federal capital and thus, bringing back chill in the air.

The adjoining city of Rawalpindi recorded 22 millimeters of rain.

The weathermen forecast more sunny days ahead with the weather getting warmer in the daytime.

“During the next 48 hours, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Islamabad and Rawalpindi like most parts of the country due to the continental air. However, there is a likelihood of rain and snow falling at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan,” said forecasting officer Imran Ahmed Siddiqi of the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The pleasantly bright weather prompted people to step out for recreation.

They went to parks, Margallah tourist points and zoo in droves. The restaurants also attracted large crowds of foodies.

Some motorists complained about the poor drainage of rainwater causing puddles on Islamabad’s many arteries, including Margallah Road, Kashmir Highway, IJ Principal Road and Fazle Haq Road.  Similar reports also came from Rawalpindi, especially its downtown areas.
