Cleric killed in Karak mosque
KARAK: A cleric was killed and two others sustained injuries in a firing incident in a mosque in Mumbati Killay in Takht-e-Nusrati tehsil during Friday prayers.
The local people and police sources said that two clerics identified as Maulana Muhammad Imran, who is the brother-in-law of former MNA Maulana Shah Abdul Aziz, and Hafiz Shakirullah had serious differences as they were both interested in becoming the peshimam at the said mosque.
“Today Maulana Muhammad Imran tried to lead the Friday prayers, but Hafiz Shakirullah didn’t allow him to do so and the two exchanged harsh words,” an eyewitness said. It was learnt that Hafiz Shakirullah allegedly opened fire on Maulana Muhammad Imran, who was killed instantly.
Two persons, who intervened to calm down the clerics, sustained injuries in the firing incident and they were rushed to a hospital. Hafiz Shakirullah managed to escape after the firing incident.
