PESHAWAR: A sub inspector was killed and a constable injured during an exchange of firing with proclaimed offenders in Mardan district Wednesday.
According to police, SI Sultan Mehmood, who was leading a team, raided a house in the Sajan area of Mardan to arrest proclaimed offenders wanted in various cases of heinous nature.The outlaws instead of surrendering opened fire on police party and as a result SI Sultan Mehmood was killed and constable Shoaib sustained injuries.
The injured was shifted to a hospital. Police have cordoned off the area and started search operation.Meanwhile, unidentified assailants Wednesday killed ANP’s woman district councilor, son and daughter in Pirtab Banda, Maneri police confirmed.
According to an FIR registered in police station Swabi, relatives of the deceased who were sleeping in the adjacent room heard gunshots in wee hours but remained confined to the room due to fear.
When door of the room was opened at dawn, bodies of Razia Bibi district councilor, her 20-year-old son and 22-year-old daughter were found in a pool of blood.The motive behind the murders has not been known yet.Razia Bibi was elected local government representative on the reserved seat from ANP’s platform.Police have started investigation of the killing.
