LAHORE
Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), Lahore, has registered a large increase in patients in emergency and outdoor wards in the last three months as compared to corresponding period last year.
During the last three months from November 2015 to January 2016, 50,847 patients visited Out-Patient Ward (OPD) and 35,242 visited outdoor ward during the same period last year i.e. from November 2014 to January 2015.
Similarly, a total of 39,846 patients arrived in emergency ward as compared to last year’s figure of 30,504 patients during same period; 7,625 patients were given admission as compared to 4,574 admissions during the same period of three months.
As many as 8,523 patients were conducted echo-cardiography against 6,916 patients during last year’s corresponding period, whereas 4,257 patients were conducted angiography against last year’s figure of 3,219 patients during same period; 98,526 patients received free medicines as compared to last year’s number of 76,864 patients in the same period.
The PIC Medical Superintendent Dr Sohail Saqlain said that the hospital administration has provided treatment and diagnostic services and medicines to the patients free-of-cost.
“The rising number of patients reflects public trust in the hospital and hospital administration and faculty are leaving no stone unturned to meet the expectations of the patients,” he added. He said that the Punjab government was also giving full attention to PIC and decided to provide extra funds to the hospital.
