Dr Muhammad Ali Sheikh has been re-appointed as the vice-chancellor of the Sindh Madrassatul Islam University (SMIU).

A statement issued on Wednesday said that on the recommendation of the chief minister, the SMIU chancellor, Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, has approved the re-appointment of Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh as vice-chancellor.  The appointment has been made in accordance with the Sindh Madrassatul Islam University Act 2011, which has provision of granting another term of the office for four years to the incumbent vice chancellor.

Earlier, Dr Shaikh called on by the Sindh chief minister, where he briefed him on the progress of the university, since his tenure as the vice-chancellor from February 2012.

He informed the chief minister that the SMIU has entered in several international collaborations and has been awarded the highest “W” category by the Higher Education Commission, in view of providing exceptional teaching and research opportunities to its students.
