Violating Child Protection Act
4 kiln owners arrested in Okara

OKARA: Police on Wednesday arrested four kiln owners for violating the Child Protection Act in separate incidents here.
On a tip-off, the police along with the concerned staff raided the kiln of Zareef Khan at Wasavewala and found that minor children, Khizar and Allah Ditta, were busy making bricks. The police arrested Zareef and his manager Muhammad Iqbal. In another raid conducted at the kiln of Feroz Khan, the police found that Ruqayya (12) and Waris (10) were making bricks. The police arrested kiln owner Feroz and his manager Muhammad Akram. In yet another incident, the police raided the kiln of Hasnain Khan and Saddam Khan near Haveli and found that Nasir (8) and Kiran (10) were busy making bricks. Later, the police arrested both kiln owners. The police have registered separate cases.
SENT ON JUDICIAL REMAND: A local magistrate on Wednesday sent a man on judicial remand who was arrested for hoisting the Indian flag on his house on Tuesday.
The court sent Umar Daraz on judicial remand. DPO Faisal Rana told media that Umar was a tailor and he sewed the Indian flag and hoisted it on his house.
RS 6M FOR SECURITY OF VARSITY: UoE Vice-Chancellor Dr Rauf-e-Azam has released Rs 6 million for the construction of the boundary wall of the Okara campus.
It was told by the campus Director Dr Khalid Saleem here on Wednesday. He said that the construction work and other necessary security arrangements, including recruitment of new security guards and installation of new CCTV cameras, were also underway.
WOMAN HELD FOR INJURING HUSBAND: A-Division police on Wednesday arrested a woman for injuring her husband at Amin Town.
Accused Umme Habiba had contracted marriage with Qari Waqas some five months ago. On the day of the incident, the accused woman allegedly gave intoxicated drink to Waqas, which made him unconscious. Later, the accused woman allegedly cut sensitive part of her husband with a knife. The injured was rushed to the DHQ Hospital. The police have registered a case.
