Pemra warns channels not to disclose targets
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Wednesday warned all satellite television channels against disclosing locations of the target of terrorism during live coverage in future by installing time delay mechanism.
In a statement Pemra said the television channels disclosed details of the positions of the security agencies during live coverage of the Bacha Khan University terrorist attack. Moreover the satellite televisions have been advised not to give number of casualties in such a situation without confirmation from the representatives of the concerned provincial government.
Pemra also asked the managements of all TV channels to set up monitoring editorial committee to prevent airing of unwanted stuff. The letter of advice was sent after monitoring of leading satellite channels including Geo News, ARY News, Sama TV, Dunya TV, Express News, 92 News TV after the Bacha Khan University attack.
