The plight of the Tharis
By our correspondents
January 18, 2016
There seems to be no end to the plight of the Tharis. Last year hundreds of children died due to a shortage of food and clean water. No one cared then and no one is caring for them now. Is Tharparkar not part of this country? What is the crime of these poor children? Is poverty their crime? Whose responsibility is it to provide the basic needs of life to these people? Who will come forward to save them? Should they be left at the mercy of nature?
By neglecting this human tragedy we all become partners in the crime and their deaths. The government of Sindh has neglected the people of Thar. Let us stop the shadows of death from lingering on in the region.
