The Post Graduate Medical Institute and Ameer-ud-Din Medical College Principal Prof Khalid Mahmood has said all dengue patients referred to Lahore General Hospital during the last four years (2012 to 2015) recovered by the grace of God and by the virtue of hard work by the doctors, nurses and other staff of the hospital.

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the principal in a press statement said a comprehensive strategy has been evolved to save dengue patients during 2016 to continue zero death toll by dengue in the hospital for the four consecutive year. Training workshops and seminars for medical staff and general public would be conducted whereas cleanliness drive and thrust on hygienic lifestyle would also continue, he said.

Prof Khalid Mahmood said: “Our doctors, nurses and paramedics are not behind to those of any country and this fact has been recognised by even the foreign medical experts. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has used this very talent in a skilful manner to get the required results. The LGH has been proved to be a frontline fighter against dengue and it would continue its role during years to come. Success of drive against dengue under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif along with all the departments, institutions and various segments of life has surprised the foreign experts. They have admitted if Punjab Chief Minister did not take timely action against the epidemic, thousands of human lives could have been expired as it had happened in their own countries”.
