MINGORA: Unidentified persons shot dead two cops when they left the police station on Monday, official sources said.
The sources said that two cops, Hazrat Usman and Abdur Razaq, returned to their police station after performing security duty for an anti-polio vaccination drive in Kanju.
They changed their uniform at the police station and left for their homes when armed men shot them dead near Dherai Baba in Kanju. The bodies were shifted to the Saidu Sharif Hospital for autopsy.
The police and security forces clamped a curfew in the area and launched a door-to-door search operation. Several suspected persons were arrested during the search. Security was also beefed at all the checkpoints in the district.
