TTP booked for threats
LAHORE
A case against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan on the charges of hurling life threats for extortion to a manager of Lorry Adda was registered at the Lorry Adda police station.Asif Hayyat, a manager at Lorry Adda, registered a case saying that an unidentified person identifying himself as a leader of TTP called him and asked him fund for their ‘noble cause’. Police registered a case and found during their investigations that the call was made from Taur Khamborder, said Investigation Officer, Munir Ahmad.
Moreover, Lorry Ada police have yet to make a breakthrough in arrest of the accused person who had shot at and injured Dr Ali Raza on his clinic on February 10, 2015 for refusing extortion money to TTP. Uncle of Dr Ali Raza, a doctor who ran a clinic, registered a case on February 10, 2015 and said that the victim was sitting in his clinic when an unidentified accused person came there, raised a slogan Naara-e-Takbeer, Allah-o-Akbar and shot at the victim and fled the scene.The complainants in their statements to police had told that the victim had received threat letter from Tehreek-e-Taliban.
NCA MoU
A formal MoU was signed on January 8 between the National College of Arts, Lahore, and Institute of South Asian Studies in University of Texas, Austin.
The US Embassy selected the Department of Film & TV at NCA for “University Partnership Program” for pairing with a US University. After an open competition UT Austin's South Asia Institute (SAI), in collaboration with Department of Radio-Television-Film (RTF) in the Moody College of Communication, University of Austin Texas were selected. The three year partnership includes
faculty and student exchange,
curriculum development,
collaborative research, sharing of resources, and collaborative projects.
Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri as Principal NCA, whereas Dr. Kamran Asdar Ali, Director represented the Institute of South Asian Studies in University of Texas, Austin. Rachael Chen, Public Affairs Officer of US Consulate, Lahore and Jamal Ghazanfer from US Consulate, Lahore and Head, Department of Film & Television Majid Saeed Khan, were also present in the ceremony.
