WSSP disposes of 10,640 tonnes waste

PESHAWAR: Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) disposed of 10640 tonnes of offal during the three-day Eidul Azha sanitation operation.

The operation, inaugurated by Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Information and Higher Education Kamran Bangash on Wednesday, concluded with appreciation from people from all walks of life.

With 2,602 sanitary workers on duty, the company started the operation on the first day of Eid at 10am that continued till 5pm Friday. The company had set up 427 primary collection points and 16 transfer stations throughout the city.

Elected members of the national and KP assemblies including MNA Arbab Sher Ali, Kamran Bangash, Additional Deputy Commissioner Gul Bano, WSSP Chief Executive Dr Hassan Nasir and General Manager (Operations) Riaz Ahmad Khan monitored the operation.

Apart cancelling the leaves of the field staff, the company had assigned the management staff zones the duties to monitor the operation and assist the field staff in identifying points for clearance.

Member National Assembly Arbab Sher Ali inspected sanitation in his constituency and appreciated the efforts of the company. The company has started using lime to disinfect the waste after which it will be covered with soil at Shamshatoo dumping site.
