Islamabad: Though the government offices reopened in the federal capital on Friday after three-day official Eid break, few employees returned to work.

The federal government had declared Eid holidays from July 20 to July 22, though the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) had recommended July 20-24 work break to stem the spread of novel coronavirus in the country.

On Friday, most government employees availed themselves of the annual leaves for the last working day of the week to make the maximum of the Eid celebration. The others absented themselves from duty without permission.

Some employees didn't show up even on the last working day before Eidul Azha i.e. Monday Many of those present in offices on Friday spent time chatting away about their Eid-related activities, coronavirus pandemic and national politics over tea and left in the afternoon to offer Jumma prayers but didn't return.

They said most of their colleagues had gone to native areas to celebrate Eid with families. The employees said normalcy in offices would return on Monday after the resumption of duty by holidaymakers.
