‘Robber’ killed by mugged cop in plain clothes

A suspected robber was killed by a policeman in plain clothes during a mugging bid near Nagar Chowrangi on the first day of Eidul Adha.

According to police, the incident took place when three armed robbers riding on a motorcycle were trying to escape after snatching a mobile phone from the cop. The cop took out his licensed pistol and opened fire on them. As a result, one of the robbers got seriously wounded while the other two managed to escape from the crime scene.

The casualty was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The body was then shifted to a morgue for identification. A case has been registered while an investigation is under way.

Hand grenade found

Panic gripped the Sachal neighbourhood after a hand grenade was discovered in a plot. The Sachal police reached the area and cordoned it off. Experts from the bomb disposal squad were also called.

Bomb disposal experts defused the hand grenade. Police said the hand grenade had been lying in the plot for the past many days. An investiga ing is under way.
