LAHORE:Senior doctors have advised people suffering from heart disease, diabetes, blood pressure and joint pain to take special precautions while eating meat on Eid days. They have warned that carelessness and overeating may aggravate their disease. They stressed them to eat meat in moderation and avoid hospitalisation during Eid days.
Prof of Medicine, Lahore General Hospital, Dr Tahir Siddique, Assistant Prof Dr Muhammad Maqsud, Dr Shahid Mayo and Dr Abdul Aziz said in the wake of Corona, dengue season, typhoid and gastro, citizens should take double precautions and avoid roasting meat in barbecue and using too much spices.
Meat should be cooked on low heat with vegetables to make it more useful. Most people indiscriminately use Ojari, Kaleji and Sri Paya on Eid which leads to many diseases. Bacteria may spread in this hot and humid weather so citizens should keep in mind every aspect while eating meat. Animals should be healthy, the experts said.
Dr Tahir Siddique, Dr Muhammad Maqsud, Dr Shahid Mayo and Dr Abdul Aziz said people suffering from digestive and liver diseases need to be more moderate in eating meat. It is also important to ensure the use of yogurt and salads and avoid cold drinks.
People suffering from diabetes should stay away from sweets and eat less meat to avoid putting too much burden on their stomachs, the medical experts said and added with precautions citizens can celebrate Eid at home with their loved ones instead of in hospital.
The medical experts said Indian Delta variant of Covid-19 is extremely deadly and people must have social distance and avoid hugging. They said extreme weather and loadshedding can spoil meat stored in freezers and its use can weaken the immune system and lead to diseases.
