Directive to intensify dengue prevention activities

LAHORE : Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Sarah Aslam has directed the department to intensify dengue prevention activities across the Punjab.

She said on Eidul Azha special cleanliness arrangements should be made. She appealed to people that no filth of sacrificed animals and garbage should be thrown in open places and monsoon rains have also started.

Precautionary measures against dengue are very important. Citizens should be more responsible for preventing dengue during monsoon. Rainwater should not accumulate in residential areas, she said.

During the last 24 hours no case of dengue was reported across the province. During this year total 58 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported from all across the province and out of all confirmed patients, 28 patients has been reported from Lahore. No new case of dengue was reported across the whole province on Saturday. No dengue patient is undergoing treatment in all hospitals of Lahore and throughout the province. During this year, 28 confirmed cases of dengue have been reported in Lahore and no patient is undergoing treatment in hospitals of Lahore. In last 24 hours, 341,864 indoor and 73,192 locations were checked across the Punjab while larvae were destroyed from 721 locations.

In Lahore, 50,123 houses and 7,964 outdoor places were checked for dengue larvae and 551 positive containers were destroyed. A total of 28 dengue patients have been reported in Lahore during this year and at present no more patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals.

quack centres sealed: In its anti-quackery drive in 14 districts of the province, the PHC shut 83 illegal treatment centres during the last week.

PHC teams raided 739 treatment centres. As per data, 178 quacks were found to have abandoned quackery while 43 centres had become legal where qualified physicians had started treating patients. The PHC will continue surveillance of another 392 treatment centres. Amongst the sealed businesses, 53 were being used as family clinics and 9 medical stores were treating patients. Seven were illegal dentists, while six hakeems and four homoeopathic doctors were treating patients with allopathic medicines.

In district Attock only, the PHC teams carried out an action against 115 treatment centres, and shut 8 illegal ones. In other districts, 11 were sealed in Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan9, eight each in Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahab and Bahawalnagar, 7 each in Chiniot and Rawalpindi, Chakwal 4, three each in Kasur, Bahawalpur and Lodhran, and one in Sheikhupura. In Lahore, Ali Medical and Gynae Centre, Hafiz Clinic and CDC Medical Lab & Collection Centre were shut.
