KU to conduct MPhil, PhD entry tests today

The University of Karachi on Friday announced the schedule to conduct the entry test for admission in MPhil, LLM, PhD, MS,

and MD Programmes on Sunday.

Convener Graduate Admissions-2021 Professor Dr Nasira Khatoon said a two-hour-long test would start at 10:00am. All the candidates were directed to report to their departments at least 30 minutes before the test time, bring their original computerised national identity card and admit card.

For the first time, the KU has completed the admission process through the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System. It has become one of the very few universities in the country which is now using the latest technology. According to ERP Committee Convertor Dr Imran Siddiqui, the varsity would implement the ERP System for other programmes in the next phase.

He said that the system would make it easier for the students to get their exam records, and the results would be compiled in a timely manner so the parents could monitor their child’s performance.

“The smart system will automatically generate attendance data which will also be reported to the parents. Fee vouchers can be obtained sitting at home. To deal with any emergency, student’s blood group, home address and emergency contact number are also available on the smart cards.”

The participants of the meeting were informed that soil testing work had started for the construction of a new building for the Faculty of Law, and the construction work would start after Eid ul Adha.

He said state-of-the-art daycare centre will be set up to facilitate teachers and non-teaching staff of the university, adding that public-private partnerships were on the card to set up a teaching hospital. The federal and provincial governments had also been approached for the construction of the hospital, he added.
