Police claim arresting four men involved in Ehsas Centre robbery
Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested four suspects in injured state after an exchange of fire in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.
According to police, the suspects were involved in the recent robbery at the Ehsas Programme Centre in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 5.
Police said that four suspects on two motorcycles were attempting to rob citizens when a police team with the help of CCTV footage intercepted them, after which the suspects tried to escape under the cover of fire.
In retaliation, the police team fired back and arrested all the four suspects in an injured state.
The arrested men included Nadir Hussain, Zafar, Roshan Ali and Sajid Nadeem. They were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment under police
custody.
A group of armed robbers stole Rs1 million and mobile phones from staff and visitors at the Ehsas Programme Centre in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 5 on July 2.
As many as six robbers robbed the staff and public at the centre after holding them hostage at gunpoint. They snatched over Rs1 million from a cash counter and stole mobile phones of the staffers and visitors. After committing the crime, they successfully fled.
According to visitors who had gone to the office to collect aid, the six armed men came on three motorcycles and no policeman was present there at the time of the incident.
Upon receiving the information, police reached the crime scene and inquired into the robbery. They also obtained the CCTV footage of the incident, which showed robbers fleeing the scene after completing their swift operation. Police later registered a case against unidentified suspects.
