LAHORE: Muzammil Murtaza and Muhammad Abid qualified for the men's singles final in the New Khan Punjab Open Tennis Championship 2021 after winning their respective semi-finals here at the Punjab Tennis Academy on Wednesday.
In the men's singles semi-finals, Muzammil played superb tennis against his brother Mudassar and won the encounter 6-2, 6-4.
In the final, he will meet Muhammad Abid, who faced a tough fight from seasoned campaigner Heera Ashiq before winning the marathon match 7-6, 6-3.
The boys under-18 semifinals saw Ahtesham Arif routing Hamza Jawad 6-3, 6-4 and Asad Zaman defeating Arman Kamran 6-2, 6-4.
In the boys/girls under-14 quarter-finals, Amna Ali Qayum beat Abdul Basit 8-6, Nabeel Ali Qayum beat Abdullah Pirzada 8-5 and Zohaib Afzal Malik beat M Sohaan Noor 8-4.
