Kidnappers held, infant recovered

KOHAT: The police on Saturday claimed to have arrested five persons after recovering an infant who was kidnapped from a hospital.

Talking to reporters, District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Suhaib Ashraf said that one Qari Inamullah reported to the police that on December 23, he shifted his wife to the Liaqat Memorial Women and Children Hospital where his wife gave birth to a baby boy.

He said that the infant was kidnapped after his birth from the labour room.

He added that taking action on the complaint, the police started investigation and arrested five persons.

District Police Officer said that the lady health worker, Sakeena, handed over the infant to one Shagufta whose daughter
Shabnam had remained childless for years after her marriage in Karbogha area in Hangu.

He said that the accused party had paid Rs45,000 to the hospital employee for helping them in kidnapping the baby boy.

The official said that
police arrested the gangsters including Ibraruddin,
Shagufta, Shahid Gul, Shabnum and Sakeena, and
recovered the infant who was handed over to his parents.
