Book on economic diplomacy launched
SUKKUR: The launch ceremony of “A Hand Book on Economic Diplomacy”, written by Ahmed Ali Sirohey, former ambassador of Pakistan for Niger, was organised by the office of the Dean Faculty of Social Sciences at the Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto appreciated the academic work of Ahmed Ali Sirohey, a former Pakistan’s ambassador in Niger. Prof Dr Samreen Hussain said it was a part of literary event, extending her congratulations to the author of the book. Dr Samreen said it was a healthy sign that our diplomats have been producing positive image, emphasising that it was time to concentrate on economic diplomacy for political development, peace and progress. Ali Sirohey said Pakistan can enhance its outreach through economic diplomacy by using trained practitioners to influence the alliances around the world.
Ahmed Ali Sirohey said in the modern time, the nature and scope of economic diplomacy has changed, saying the more soft power has the greater acceptability of goods and services. He said Japan after World War-II emerged as the second largest economy in the world as a part of economic diplomacy, saying we must concentrate on health, tourism, and education as economic diplomacy. He said the purpose of writing this book is basically to project the country’s image to the outer world. Prof Dr Taj Muhammad Lashari said the hand book would equip students, saying in future we would foster academic linkage with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for academic and research collaboration.
