Eight die from COVID-19 in Punjab

LAHORE:Around eight COVID19 patients died and 141 new positive cases were confirmed in Punjab during the last 24 hours.

According to Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) report issued on Sunday, the death toll reached 10,721 in Punjab, while confirmed cases became 345,796 in the province. Three deaths occurred in Lahore. A total of 18,528 tests were conducted on Sunday, which raised the tally of total tests to 5,587,885 in the province. Around 9,655 active cases are either isolated at homes or under treatment at different quarantine centres and health facilities.

152 recover: The Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHC&MED), Punjab, has stated that 304,319 corona patients have recovered in the public sector hospitals being run under the control of SHC&MED and Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department while 152 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, SHC&MED Secretary Barrister Nabeel Ahmed Awan said that decline in wave of corona pandemic was witnessed in the province and out of 6,992 beds reserved in all government hospitals for corona patients, 6387 beds were unoccupied. Likewise, 1,177 beds out of 1,355 beds reserved in government hospitals of Lahore are vacant so far. The Secretary SHC MED said that the department had arranged 3,099 beds in isolation wards of all government hospitals in the province, out of which, 2959 beds were vacant. As many 346 beds for corona patients are reserved in isolation wards set up in government hospitals of Lahore and 317 of them are unoccupied.
