Victims with minor injuries discharged from hospitals

MARDAN: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) office remained closed on the third day of the incident while a joint investigation committee of law-enforcement agencies was established to probe the incident, sources told The News on Thursday.

They said that a joint investigation committee in the supervision of Deputy Inspector General Mardan Saeed Khan Wazir was established to probe the incident.

Majority of the injured who suffered minor injuries in the suicide attack on the Nadra office were discharged from the hospitals.

Dr Riaz Malik Medical Superintendent (MS) told The News that four bodies and 42 injured were taken to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Mardan soon after the incident. He said that eight injured were referred to Peshawar, adding that three injured were undergoing treatment at the DHQ hospital while the remaining injured people were discharged from the hospital.

MS Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) Dr Fazl-e-Malik said that 17 bodies and 32 injured were taken to MMC soon after the incident. He added that in nine injured people were still at the MMC while the other injured were discharged from the hospital.

Dr Fazl-e-Malak said that large number of residents of city reached MMC and donated blood for the injured people. He added that we faced problems in Neurosurgery because the department was yet to be fully established. However, he claimed that all the injured people received better treatment at the MMC. The sources in Health Department added that majority of the seriously injured persons were referred to Peshawar due to lack of facilities at both the hospitals of Mardan district.
