MINGORA: The students belonging to various educational institutions of Swat district showcased their talent in a one-day science exhibition held at a private school here on Friday.
The event was organised by Khushal Public School and College with the basic aim of exploring the hidden talent of students studying in different schools and colleges of the district. The students had displayed their science models and projects that highlighted the importance of the environment in human life.
Talking to The News, Umar Hussain, Controller of Examination Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education Saidu Sharif, Swat, said that practical work was an essential part of learning.
“Due to the prevailing situation the government has decided to abandon science practical examination in upcoming matric and inter examination. However, today I witnessed that the students have done their practical work through these science models,” he said, adding that young students were the future of Pakistan and the talented students would work for the bright future of the country.
Educational expert Huma Shakir told this scribe that it was the need of the hour to provide practical education to the students.
“We should work to mobilize students to become creative and become successful scientists in natural sciences, biological sciences and in other fields,” said Huma Shakir and added that the students of Swat district were highly talented in science subjects.
Huma Akram, a student of grade-10, said that she had produced a model about the human central nervous system.
Nida Akram, another female participant, said, “We have shown our talent through practical work and have proved that female students of Swat can better contribute in any discipline, especially in the field of science.”
“The teachers have the ability to polish the hidden talent of the students. I congratulate the organizer of the event for this successful and fruitful event,” said Wafa Muhammad, principal of the Government Jahanzeb College.The organizers awarded shields and certificates to the participants and students.
