No death from COVID-19 in twin cities
Islamabad: Coronavirus illness, COVID-19 claimed no life from Islamabad Capital Territory and Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours while 34 new patients were tested positive for the illness from the twin cities that is the lowest number of cases reported in a day from the region after September 16, 2020.
On September 16, 2020, as many as 27 patients were reported positive for COVID-19 along with one death from the region. It is also worth mentioning that the positivity rate of COVID-19 recorded in ICT in the last 24 hours is the lowest after October 4, 2020.According to District Health Officer ICT Dr. Muhammad Zaeem Zia, 27 patients were diagnosed with COVID-19 against a total of 3,627 tests run in the federal capital in the last 24 hours at a positivity rate of 0.66 per cent that is the lowest during the third wave of the outbreak. He added the number of cases reported in a day from ICT is also the lowest in the last many months. Data collected by ‘The News’ reveals that a total of 775 patients have so far died of the disease in the federal capital from where a total of 82,368 patients have so far been reported of which 80463 have recovered. The number of active cases of the disease from the federal capital was recorded as 1130 on Monday. Meanwhile, the positivity rate of COVID-19 has been recorded as 1.49 per cent in Rawalpindi district in the last 24 hours after reporting of 12 cases against 803 tests.
To date, a total of 24,683 patients have been reported from Rawalpindi after confirmation of 10 patients belonging to the district in the last 24 hours of which 991 have so far died of the illness while 23,525 have recovered.
The number of active cases of the disease from Rawalpindi district was 167 on Monday of which 16 confirmed patients were undergoing treatment at different healthcare facilities in town while 151 patients were in home isolation.
