Action against 3,135 underage motorcyclists taken

MANSEHRA: Police have taken punitive actions against 3,135 motorcyclists for violating traffic laws in the district during a week-long campaign, an official said on Friday.

DIG Hazara range Mirvais Niaz said that a special week was observed from June 10 to June 16 against the underage motorbike riders and other violations related to motorcycling.

“We have challaned and compounded two-wheelers in the first phase and during the second phase to be initiated soon, the parents and teachers would be sensitised about the dangerously increasing stunts, one-wheeling and rash driving trend among the students and youngsters,” Niaz said.

He said that during the crackdown, as many as 1,519 punitive actions were initiated against the unauthorized number plates, 704 against without number plates, 1438 against underage riders, 1544 against non-use of helmets, 651 against lack of documents, 916 against rash driving and 2599 under miscellaneous violations.
