David rues missing chance to win match for Qalandars
KARACHI: Lahore Qalandars Singaporean batsman Tim David wants to create match-winning feats for the last year’s runners-up and on Tuesday he missed such an opportunity when he fell at a stage when his team needed him to stay. David fell for a 27-ball 46 off the final ball of the 15th over to leave Lahore at 105-8 while chasing 159 against Quetta Gladiators. Lahore were then folded for 140, losing the game by 18 runs.
David laments missing the chance of finishing for his team. “I wanted to finish the game. It would have been better had I done that,” David said after the match.
He said that they lost a few quick wickets in the middle and he had to do too much to bring the required run rate down.
“We have played good cricket coming into the tournament. The results of the last two games did not come our way. If we play our exciting brand of cricket I am sure the results will come our way and I am sure we will make it to the finals,” David said.
When asked whether he is stepping in David Wiese’s shoes as he is playing a role which Wiese used to play for Qalandars, David said: “Wiese did an amazing job with some of his performances for the Qalandars so if I win a few games I will be very pleased.
“I like to play properly and played a few good shots. I got a chance today to do some power hitting but it’s not that easy,” David added.
He said that he is happy in Qalandars’ company. “I am enjoying my stay with the Qalandars. They have been a very good team, very good guys around,” David said.
