PESHAWAR: Rahman Gul has been elected as the provincial president of the Ayesha Gulalai faction of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The election was held in Peshawar in presence of Ayesha Gulalai, a former member of parliament who was expelled from the PTI on disciplinary grounds. She administered him the oath after his victory in the poll.
Rahman Gul, who belongs to Batkhela in Malakand district, defeated a candidate hailing from Mardan for the office of president by 723 votes.
Ayesha Gulalai has been struggling to organize her faction of PTI. She has been in the political wilderness after being expelled from the PTI. She was young when she became an MNA but was unable to consolidate her position in politics.
