22 more die from corona in Punjab

LAHORE:Around 22 COVID-19 patients died and 223 new positive cases were confirmed in Punjab during the last 24 hours.

According to Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (P&SHD) report issued Sunday, the death toll reached 10,501 in Punjab, while confirmed cases became 343,926 in the province. Around nine deaths occurred in Lahore, which raised the toll to 4,232 in provincial metropolis.

300,849 patients recover: The Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department (SHC&MED), Punjab, has informed that around 300,849 corona patients are recovered in the public sector hospitals being run under the control of SHC&MED and Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department, while 318 patients are recovered during the last 24 hours.

In a press statement issued here on Sunday, SHC&MED Secretary Barrister Nabeel Ahmed Awan said that 7,499 beds were reserved in all government hospitals for corona patients, out of which 6,486 beds were unoccupied. Likewise, 1,555 beds reserved in government hospitals of the provincial metropolis and 1,296 beds were vacant so far.

The Secretary SHC&MED said the health department had arranged 784 ventilators for corona patients in all hospitals of the provincial government, of which 191 ventilators were under use while 593 were unoccupied. Around 278 ventilators are reserved in Lahore hospitals, of which 74 are occupied and 204 ventilators are vacant, said Nabeel Awan.
