Water inflow in major rivers jumps

ISLAMABAD: Water inflow in all the major rivers has jumped further to 428,000 cusecs against the outflow of 294,600 cusecs due to shoot up in the mercury level in the Northern Areas.

According to the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Saturday, water inflow in River Indus at Tarbela Dam has increased to 197,200 cusecs against the outflow of 130,000 cusecs.

The water level in the River Indus at Tarbela Dam has also reached 1,449.60 feet, which was 65.60 feet higher than its dead level of 1,386 feet.

Water inflow in the Mangla dam also witnessed an increase and was recorded at 81,600 cusecs against the outflow of 15,000 cusecs.

The water level in the River Jhelum at Mangla Dam was 1,132.65 feet, which was 94.65 feet higher than its dead level of 1,040 feet. Similarly, inflow in River Kabul at Nowshera has surged to 80,400 cusecs and in River Chenab at Marala was recorded at 40,500 cusecs.

Meanwhile, the release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa and Sukkur was recorded at 187,800 cusecs, 126,000 cusecs and 31,200 cusecs, respectively.
