LAKKI MARWAT: Several teachers were found absent from duty when District Education Officer Zahoor Khan paid surprise visits to schools in Naurang town, said an official on Friday.
The official said that the DEO visited public sector schools following complaints about the absence of teachers and non-teaching staffers from duty. The education department official had also received complaints about alleged corporal punishment to students at schools.
Zahoor went to Government Shaheed Behram Ahmad Khan Higher Secondary School, Naurang, Government Primary School Muslim Bagh and other state-run intuitions. He checked the attendance of teachers and non-teaching staff and expressed anger over the absence of several teachers.
The district education officer directed subordinates to initiate action against the absent teachers and deduct salaries from them.
