Action sought against Charsadda SHO
BARA: A resident of the Bara tehsil in Khyber Agency has appealed to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Nasir Khan Durrani to take notice of alleged injustice committed by the station house officer (SHO) of the Charsadda City Police Station.
Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, Yaseen Malik said that some people had lifted a six-wheel dumper from Charsadda over a monetary dispute and parked it in a tissue paper making factory in Hayatabad, Peshawar.
“I don’t know who had lifted the vehicle but they called and told me that they are friends of my partner and wanted to park the vehicle at our factory for a night,” he said. The resident said the Charsadda and Peshawar Police raided his factory when he was away. He said the police arrested those who had parked the vehicle and also some of the factory workers. Yaseen Malik said that soon after the raid, he reached the Hayatabad police checkpost. He said he asked the official to free the labourers. The police released the labourers but arrested him. He and other accused were shifted to the Charsadda Police Station.
He alleged that the SHO had kept him in custody for five days. “The SHO used to send his agents to me who tried to persuade me to pay bribe,” he said.“After five days, the SHO Imran lodged an FIR against me and sent me to the Charsadda prison,” Yaseen said.
He claimed that he had handed over his wallet containing Rs184,000 cash, cellphone and a wristwatch to the cops before he was sent to the jail.“When I was released on bail, the SHO returned my cell phone only while my purse containing the money and the watch were not given to me,” he claimed. He said that on the one hand the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan often announced in gatherings that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police were impartial but on the other the same police were humiliating the people and depriving them of money.
