Death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto observed in Punjab

OKARA: The eighth death anniversary of PPP leader and former PM Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was observed here on Sunday.

In this connection, the main ceremony was held at the residence of PPP senior worker Tariq Khan in which PPP leader Jahan Ara Wattoo was the chief gust. The PPP leaders including Rao Chaman, Farooq Ashraf, Izharul Haq, Alam Sher Lodhi, Rao Yasir Iqbal, Abdul Jabbar and Malik Shahid threw light on the achievements and services of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for the country.

NANKANA SAHIB: The death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was observed here on Sunday.In this connection, Quran Khawani was held at the residence of PPP worker Chacha Muhammad Aslam Bhutto.

TOBA TEK SINGH: The eighth death anniversary of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto was observed in the party district office here on Sunday.

PPP district general secretary Zulfiqar Ali and city president Rana Khalid Mahmood paid tributes to Benazir Bhutto for her services for the country.

CHAKWAL: A function was held to pay tribute to PPP leader and ex-PM Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on her eighth death anniversary here on Sunday.

The function was organised at the PPP district chapter office in which PPP district president Shah Jahan Sarfraz Raja and secretary general Abdul Jabbar also participated. The PPP leaders during their speeches threw light on the sacrifices rendered by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for democracy. Later, Quran Khawani was also held for the martyrs of Liaqat Bagh.

LALAMUSA: A ceremony was organised to pay homage to the martyrs of Liaqat Bagh incident, including PPP leader Benazir Bhutto and Tauqir Kaira, at Dera Kaira here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP leader and former Punjab finance minister Ch Tanveer Ashraf Kaira paid homage to the services of Ch Tauqir Kaira and said that he sacrificed his life for the PPP. He said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto gave 1973 constitution and started nuclear programme for the country. He said that only PPP leadership sacrificed lives for the country. PPP district president Ch Tahir Zaman Kaira said that the Dec 27, 2007, was a terrible day when we lost our brother and other PPP leadership. PPP City president Malik Shafiq Amjad, Mehr Hafeez, Khan Niaz Khan, Yaqoob Nizami, Malik Muhammad Nasir, Haji Baqar Dar, Ch Haroon Liaqat and Badar Zaman Chohan also spoke. Later, Quran Khawani was held for the Liaqat Bagh martyrs.
