PHC wants tech centres for street children
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed the government to set up technical centres in rehabilitation centres for the street children.
The directives were issued by Chief Justice Qaiser Rashid Khan during a hearing on Tuesday.
The Social Welfare Department secretary told the court that they bring children to rehabilitation centres, provide them food but they restart begging when back home.
Justice Ijaz Anwar said the government should support the families of street children as parents of these kids had no source of income.
The PHC chief justice remarked that providing skilled training to street children was better than providing them food. He observed that the children would not go for begging if they were skilled. The court adjourned the case till September 22.
