Tortured MQM activist’s body found

The tortured body of an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) with his throat slit was found within the remits of Mochko police station late on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Abdul Qadir.
A passerby saw the body and informed the local police station whose personnel arrived at the spot.
They searched his body
and found the identity card
of the victim from his
pocket after which they intimate his family and then took the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
The family of the deceased arrived at the hospital and began protesting.
One of the family members told the Mochko police an ASI of the Saeedabad police station had arrested the deceased four days ago from Baldia Town No 4 in a case pertaining to theft.
They alleged that the ASI, after torturing and killing Abdul Qadir by sitting his throat, had dumped his body within the remit of Mochko police station.
The relatives of the deceased then made their way to the Saeedabad police station and demanded the arrest of ASI Nazeer.
Baldia SP Rayees Abdul Ghani told The News confirmed that the victim was an MQM activist.
He said orders had been issued for the arrest of ASI Nazeer and an investigation had been launched.
However, the Saeedabad police hadn’t registered a case till this story was filed around Thursday midnight.
Leader of opposition in the Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan also reached the Saeedabad police station. In a tweet about the incident, he stated that black sheep in the ranks of police officers were bringing disrepute to law enforcers.
He claimed that the Saeedabad police had first arrested Abdul Qadir and had then told his family to pick his body up from the Edhi morgue.
