Cleanliness week launched in Battagram
BATTAGRAM: The administration has launched a cleanliness drive in the Battagram district with an impressive walk in the main bazaar here which was participated by a large number of volunteers of ‘Zalmay Battagram’, students, political parties’ activists, representatives of civil defence and the general public.
The launching ceremony of the week was held at the office of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner Zariful Maani, district nazim Attaur Rahman and tehsil nazim Niaz Ahmad addressed the function. The speakers highlighted the significance of cleanliness. “Cleanliness is our religious obligation as Muslims. We should keep ourselves and our area clean,” said Zariful Maani.
The official said the administration alone could not achieve the goal of keeping the district clean. He said that the public participation in the efforts for clean was direly needed. He stressed the people especially the shopkeepers to take active part in the campaign.
He said that similar events would be arranged at Thakot Bazaar today (Tuesday) and at Allai tomorrow (Wednesday).
Soon after the function, a walk was started from the TMA office. The participants holding banners and placards passed through different routes.
