FIA arrests two foreign currency smugglers
ISLAMABAD: The Commercial Banking Circle of Federal Investigation Agency on Wednesday busted a gang involved in smuggling foreign currencies worth millions of rupees.
Sources said the FIA arrested two members of the gang from the Islamabad International Airport and shifted them to the agency’s investigation wing for further probe. They said the foreign currency smugglers were allegedly planning to smuggle huge amount of foreign currency to various countries. The smugglers were identified as Shaukat Hayat and Hassan Shahzad. The FIA recovered various foreign currencies, including US dollars, Canadian dollars, Saudi Riyal, Chinese Yuan, Japanese Yen, Qatari Riyal, Afghani Rupee and other currencies. The FIA personnel, including staff of the Commercial Banking Circle, have been deputed to hunt the gang.
