The education policy in KP lacks any mention of establishing secondary high schools for girls in Chitral. In 2013, the government announced the establishment of four such schools in Upper Chitral, but this promise has yet to amount to anything. In lower Chitral, there is only one high school for girls where they are able to attend classes up to the matriculation level, after which most students cannot continue their education due to poor economic conditions.
Although KP’s Minister for Education Atif Khan has always made headlines with his bold promises, these plans are yet to see the light of day. The government should act promptly and come through on their promises.
